Protect your saxophone!
Some neck straps have a metal hook covered by rubber and others are just metal.
The rubber can wear down though and then there is just bare metal that goes onto the ring that holds your sax.
Over time the metal rubs and the friction causes wear. Eventually this can accumulate and dig a groove through the ring.
The weight of your saxophone could cause it to break and allow your saxophone to fall.
So check to see if you have this problem!
If your neckstrap hook has worn past the rubber, see about getting rubber put back on it.
I used rubber tubing myself.
A quick fix could be electrical tape, but that’s only temporary.

That’s interesting to know. I’ll make sure to let all the sax players I know to make sure and use electrical tape so they don’t ware their horns down.
Nice site man.

The rubber on my hook was starting to wear, I used some heat shrink tubing. You can buy the tubing at the hardware store they make many different sizes. I used my wifes blow drier to shrink the tubing to the hooks size. It’s working great now!
Hope this helps.

Thanks Tim, the rubber tubing that I use works pretty well too, at first I used the heat shrink on top of that, but then I stopped since it came off.
