The sound you get on saxophone has everything to do with overtones and harmonics.
They’re what make the saxophone sound different than the piano and what make you sound different than another saxophone player.
Here’s a basic lesson about four notes you can play using the low Bb fingering (of course you can play more).

Cool lesson Neal.
I’m going to work on it. I will let you know how it goes.
Keep rocking!
Neal says
Thanks Tim, you should be able to get it with a little practice.

Hi, it’s chester again I’ve been working on my overtone scale and altissimo register on and off for about a year now, and I was able to reach the tone of F using my low b-flat but when I try to get the second octave b-flat it skips to high d whenever I actually produce a sound, a similar thing happens with my altissimo pracatice I tried the fingering for third octave g but all I get is the D above it.

Hi, I’ve heard you and others teach overtones but yet to hear any instruction on how to do. What to change with embouchure, throat, lip, etc. All I hear is thing the note in your head and play. Can you provide any better specifics. I can presently get out first three but not consistently and am contorting my embouchure different ways each time. Please respond
Neal says
Right now, I don’t know how long you have played or anything else about you. And you’re not yet a subscriber to my website that I can see.
My response to one person would be different than to another person depending on a few things.
Therefore,
Go here to ask a question,

By providing some information I ask for on that page, you’ll get a better answer to your question.
Thanks

Ray Masterson says
Why is the sound of the saxophone so much more vibrant and resonant after playing the overtones, let’s say from the low B flat up for or so overtones.
NealB says
I think practicing overtones helps you develop your control.

Neal I’ve been a big fan on alto saxophone since I was in band back in 1986. I forced to play a trumpet for 6_years because the price of a used saxophone was out of our budget. 2 years later I received a good used alto saxophone from my Sunday school teacher. And I love playing the saxophone.
