Fireflies by Owl City. How to play it on alto saxophone. My friend Ruchi told me about this song last summer and I thought it was catchy. Not too hard to learn either.
Song was released July 14, 2009
First note on alto sax is a G so that’s a concert Bb. Therefore the first note for tenor sax or soprano sax (or clarinet) is a C.
Let me know what you think of the lesson. And if you really want, I could teach it for tenor/soprano.

It would have been nice to have the diagrams during the slow section, instead of the road sign. That might make it easier to pick up the fingering while holding the sax, without pausing the video.

Hey Andy,
All right, thanks for the suggestion. That wouldn’t be too hard to get in there since I already made them. I might end up putting diagrams and other files available for download somehow. Probably would charge a small amount for that though.

I like this ver much but the only thing that I don’t like is the lack of songs, I think because maybe I don’t know where they are.
Thanks Neal

Possibly, you might want to try and figure it out by ear though, that’s how I learned it on alto.

Possibly, you probably want to buy some music – listen a lot and get some sheet music too. What did you want to learn?

Hey Neal,
thank you so much for teaching me amazing songs but I had a comment on the fireflies tutorial in the second phrase you said that there was 3 a’s 1 g 1a another note then an Eb but there is only 5 notes in the phrase instead of six. I was just wondering isn’t it 2 as at the beginning or still three thanks!
Neal says
Thanks for pointing that out Justin, I think you are correct. From what I’m hearing, it’s just two A’s at the beginning. So I think it’s played the right way, but there’s an extra note in the diagram.
