Gerry Mulligan played the baritone sax. One of the few sax players to use bari as their main horn.
Ronnie Cuber does it. Doc Kupka of Tower of Power. Those are the sax players that come to mind when I think of the bari.
Goodbye Porkpie Hat is a cool jazz ballad, a blues with very different changes that they played in memory of Lester Young. An elegy of sorts.
I know and can play the melody, have improvised over it at one point, but it takes some time in the woodshed to get it down.
Enjoy!
Great music. I love the baritone sax. Thanks for sharing!
