Santa Clara University, where I went, held ‘music at noon’ concerts sometimes on Wednesdays. They brought in some really cool music.
One time, I saw Omar Sosa and he sounded incredible. His range of dynamics and emotion was crazy. He could play songs that were very beautiful and also songs with a ton of energy.
He came out dressed all in white and had a red candle burning on the piano with red cloth draped next to it.
The music began with solo piano and for the text piece a bass player from Mozambique came out. Both players had amazing rhythm. The bass player also played finger piano and the bass along with some vocals.
For the last song they got the audience to sing along. Afterward I bought Sosa’s CD’s Mulatos, Sentir, and Spirt of the roots. So far I like Mulatos the best.
