I think its an absolute must to practice scales by adding a ninth at the top.
C to C and back to C is 15 notes. Arkward! Add the ninth and you get four beautiful groups of four.. and are back ready to start the next group of 16 on the ONE of the next ascension.
Accent the first of each group of four and play along with a metronone to get smooth. Repeat every exercise twice for reinforcement, Also Lends itself to an up/down/up 2 oct /down up one/back down two.
Thanks Bob,
That is a good way to make eighth notes or sixteenth notes line up with the measures. You could also repeat the top note to get the same effect.
Thinking in groups is also a great idea. At the same time, you want to able to move past that and be able to play evenly without accenting beat one.
