Hey Neal. I’m gonna take Jazz band this fall at my college and I play tenor, but… I’m not that great I’m just ok, so I wanna know if you have some advice on how I should practice before the semester start. Lol
Hey Jasmine. That’s cool, you should have fun with it. Listening is very important- pick a favorite or two. Transcribing is great if you’re ready for it.
Working on long notes and scales (at least get all the major scales down very comfortably) is cool. Playing ballads does the same thing as long tones and is a bit more musical.
Working on classical music will improve your technique.
And playing piano will help with your understanding of harmony.
Those are a few things to work on anyway.
