hi neal, thanks for the great tips!!!i’ve been playing now for 2 years on the alto sax. and i can’t believe how great i’m playing. i’m loving it!!!!keep sending your tips.your a good man.RICK THE SAX MAN.SAN DIEGO CA.GOD BLESS YOU,NEAL!!!!!
Hi Neal, I choose the wrong time to try your groove. I just replaced my reed and the new one is still a bit stiff and unforgiving, so I struggled a bit getting a nice even C, B flat, C… But the idea really works well. I now need to experiment with other grooves. I might move up a key (or two) until my reed is played in. Thanks for this really good lesson. Much appreciated

Hi Neal I just switched to a tenor and am having difficulties playing with no vibration, clear notes. When I got my Yamaha I tried three different ones: student, intermediate and professional. The professional had a smooth beautiful sound but I couldn’t feel it. I played the intermediate and loved the vibrations that moved through the whole instrument. Tomorrow I start to play long tones and listen working to get the smooth tone and still feel the vibrations in the sax.. Any advice? Thanks
Thanks Neal. I like it, great info.
Keep rocking!
i like the simple groove thing

Thanks Neal I like it! If put up together with rhythm section it would be more fun.
Sounds like an Aebersold. Takes a bit of effort to get together a full group and record something like that….. But thanks for the suggestion.
Great man Bluesy lines are coming easier to my mind now 😀

Hey Phil,
Yes, the low notes are a little tough with a reed like that. Thanks

Hey Charles,
Not quite sure why you’re asking for advice about.
Neal it seems every note I play there is too much vibrato. What can I do to get a sound without vibrato? Thanks
Vibrato should be done on purpose, can you change your vibrato or do you have no control over it?
Could be that your reed is too hard. And part of it is that it takes practice to develop control.
hey neal thanks you.
Hey Neal – the cool prases reminds me to a song from Eddie Harris.
Cool !!
