Has anyone played a xaphoon? I saw it on amazon.
A while ago, I had something like it, but this one seems like it’s built better. And it’s gotten some good reviews.
In the comments below, Troy in Australia graciously sent me his xaphoon. I play with it sometimes, it’s especially useful on the go. First two songs I figured on it were happy birthday and Amazing Grace. But at home, with a saxophone, I’ll practice the saxophone.

I have a “Maui Saxophone”. It’s pretty nice. The sound is nice and sweet, kinda like a sax and a clarinet mixed. The fingering is kinda hard to get used to. They use tenor saxophone reeds, and if you already play the saxophone, are really easy to play. If you play the clarinet, Even Better! But if you’ve never played a woodwind, it’s still a great instrument to start on. It’s portable and it’s light, so no case and stuff needed. I’ve also heard it makes a good drumstick as well…lol. My favorite thing about it is that it’s so easy to carry around for trips and when travelling, so it makes a great impression on crowds.

Cool, thanks Stavros. I was thinking about getting one since it would be easier to carry around.

Hey Neal, I have a Maui sax that I only ever used once.
I’ll send it to you if you’re keen to try one out.
?

Hey Troy,
That might be cool. I was curious.

i have a little plastic xahoon; i love it.:]
i’ve had a little reed experience before, so i picked it up pretty quickly, but it’s still provided a healthy challenge definitely. its size makes it a convenient instrument to own, too. and i learned basic scales and songs all from free demos and xaphoon pages on the internet, so there’s that too.

Cool, yep, it’s fun to play with. I figured out how to play amazing grace and happy birthday the day I got one in the mail from Troy.

nice, yeah, i’m glad it’s working out for you. i learned happy birthday pretty much right of the bat too, haah.

by the way, i actually came across this page while looking for some xaphoon fingering charts & didn’t actually look at the rest of the site until just now, but it’s great finding people who seem excited about their art & music & i hope this works out for you.:]
Neal says
That’s funny, thanks for stopping by.

Do you have the Summertime fingering chart of Xaphone? I am always looking for it!
Neal says
No, I haven’t made any fingering charts for xaphoon. How much time have you spent trying to figure it out by ear?
