Backstory
I’m from Johannesburg South Africa. I’ve always been keen & interested in learning to play the Sax, since listening to the likes of Stan Getz & Fausto Papetti. Being from a musical background I’ve cultivated a good ear for music and rhythm.
I am a pensioner aged 70yrs but still willing to learn.
I received my sax on my 50th birthday and still cannot “put it together” as you so tactfully put it.
As judging from what I read and mail from people you have a good sure to learn method.
Thank you,
Connie Jansen
Question:
What is a Harness and what does it look like?
How does one attach it to ones self and the instrument, in my case the Tenor Saxophone?
Response:
Seemed like it would better to make a video to show this.
And here are two options for harnesses to buy. I tried on the Jazzlab Saxholder Harness at NAMM and liked it. Have seen others with the Neotech 2501162 Soft Harness, Black, Swivel Hook

Personally, I used a strap that is on the lower most part of the neck as opposed to sitting on the middle of the back of the neck.
It places more of it on my back and shoulders, especially when it’s a larger saxophone like bari of tenor.
(I’ve had experience with alto, bari, and tenor in the marching band, it’s a pain in the ass)
