Dear Neil,
Always enjoy your posts. As a new beginner and just having left shoulder surgery, things are unfortunately on hold. I am trying to create sounds just on the mouth piece so as to exercise my embrouchure ( I really do not know if any note/s can be played just on the mouthpiece ).
Bit of a bummer but it is a long road ahead.

Hello John,
You can actually do quite a bit with just the mouthpiece. Others have been in that situation where they only have a mouthpiece. I heard a professional talk about all the exercises he did. I haven’t done it much myself yet. But you should be able to find some ideas.
