Played with La Yerba Ruda on Sunday afternoon on Treasure Island in SF. Third show of the weekend.

Short video and actually it’s with Fausto from Krooktone Classics.

Leads in with a C# to an F on alto sax. You could just start with the F. I heard a sax player play it this way.

That means it would go up to a Bb on tenor or soprano.

Try learning it by ear! That’s how I learned it.

I am new to playing saxophone, I play music at the church I go to and.

I want.to get familiar with playing sax. I like the sound of the saxophone from the songs, man eater from Hall and Oates and careless whisper from George Michael.

My question is, I don’t know whether to purchase an alto or soprano saxophone and what is the difference between both.

I drew Yoshi playing saxophone! The actual reason I drew this was to remember a word in Chinese 游戏, (Yóuxì), which means game. But I figured it would be fun to draw too, hadn’t tried drawing him before.

So I came up with a game to practice knowing tempo

Last week, I heard Victor Wooten talking about some things. One thing he said was that music is all around us. You can figure out what the pitch is of your cell phone ring. You can figure out the tempo of your turn signal, etc.

So I was thinking about that.

A game I came up with related to this is somewhat like my language game at listenspeakgame.com

Basically, it could work with a couple of people with a metronome/app or it could work within whatsapp or some other app. One person picks a tempo that the other person doesn’t know, then they guess. Then they are told what it is.

I like to remember what they guessed and then do that same tempo later on.

I also used a tempo from Drum Genius.

Go ahead and try it out. Let me know if you have questions.

I might make a video with a few tempos as well as some ideas after I have played it some more. All you really need is another person and a metronome.
